Parts Of Global Wind Industry Could Be Destroyed
It appears that the new administration would like to trade drilling oil in the North Sea to the wind energy farms that are located there. The North Sea is among the world’s most promising areas for wind turbines. The North Sea Wind Power Hub is among Europe’s big green energy plays.
*The Future Of Wind Energy
*Disappearing Wind Hurts Green
According to Reuters, “U.S. President-elect Donald Trump called to “open up” the North Sea and get rid of windmills in a post on his social media platform Truth Social on Friday.
Oil companies have been steadily exiting the North Sea in recent decades with production declining from a peak of 4.4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day at the start of the millennium to around 1.3 million today.”
Oil Is Big Again
While the North Sea may not yield what it once did, it is still home to major crude deposits.
The news is an example that the new administration’s “drill baby drill” plans will be in full force. The oil industry has already started to ramp up production and exit support for green energy. The US produced more crude in December than any nation in history.
Green energy, particularly wind, needs greater funding. If this does not come from governments or huge companies, it is not likely to appear at all. Wind is considered a risk because many installations are far from shore, and turbines can break off and are hard to replace.
There is more and more evidence that support for green energy is small. China may have more green energy production than any nation in the world’ but it is also the greatest polluter. Coal remains a major source of energy.
If North Sea wind turbines disappear, they won’t be replaced elsewhere. The process is too expensive.
