American EV Buyers Want Chargers Close To Home

There is some good news for the EV companies, “Nearly 40% of Americans live within a mile of a public electric vehicle charging station, and another 24% live between one and two miles away, according to a new analysis.”

However, the 61,000 EV chargers are heavily concentrated in a few places. These are on the East Coast from Boston to Washington, and the West Coast clustered around San Francisco and Los Angeles. California has about 25% of EV charging stations.
No Charger Infrastructure
Another major hurdle remains for many. “Just 17% of U.S. adults say they are extremely or very confident in the country’s ability to develop this infrastructure.”
Add these challenges to the problems of range and price, and the picture for EV car sales in the US, at least for the foreseeable future, remains grim. That means an auto industry in turmoil and greenhouse gas from transportation that won’t go away.
