Ford gave up on most of its short term dreams for the EV business. Among other things, it will not build an EV three row model SUV soon. After plans to invest $30 billion in EV development, ifs two EV flagships have been failures. These are the F-150 Lightning and the Mustang Mach-E which have sold badly while Ford has bragged about its EV market share in the US

GM’s GMC unit has ambitious plans to take a significant piece of EV market share. GMC is the SUV and pickup division of the largest car company in America. GM expects it to become the leader in EV truck sales. It has just launched its new Sierra SUV

According to CNBC, “Duncan Aldred, global vice president of GMC said, Duncan Aldred, global vice president of GMC “We believe this is a totally different proposition than anything that’s been launched by anybody else before. So, we’re confident about the demand,” The news channel also said that GMC’s success in the truck business may be why it believes it can do so well.

GMC will likely go where other fossil fuel companies that want to go into the EV business go. The EV market is soft, and may be getting softer. Prices are too high, consumers think. There is worry about the numbers of charging stations and the range of batteries. In cold weather, the charge they hold is less than the maximum

GMC is in for an unplanned surprise.
