Huge Discounts Needed To Solve Tesla Cybertruck Problems

The tried-and-true way to clear out car and truck inventory is incentives. Depending on the source, Tesla has 10,000 Cybertrucks on its lots and only sells a fraction each month. Teslariti reports that Tesla is offering discounts of as much as $10,5000. That may not be enough, as the Cybertruck still carries a price of $80,000 to $90,000.

The Tesla website shows that the Cybertruck is still very expensive. Tesla is offering 6.44% APR for 72 months, while the rival Ford F-150 Lightning had a 0% APR of 72 months to clear out inventory. The Cybertuck payment under these circumstances is about $1,000 a month.

The Cybertruck has two challenges. One is that it has had several recalls. Another is that some people object to buying from Tesla because of CEO Elon Musk’s relationship with President Trump. In addition, EV sales, in general, have slowed in the US.

There are also the overall objections to EVs. They do not have enough range, there are not enough charging stations, they wear through tires quickly, and they do not take a full change in cold weather.

There is also more competition coming online. GM has EV pick-ups, and Toyota will launch one soon. These companies already have a massive footprint in the gas-powered pick-up market.

Tesla needs deeper Cybertuck discounts.
