Tesla Roadster Could Save US Evs
One of Tesla’s problems is that its car designs are old. Most car company refresh a part of their model lines every year.
Tesla also has a price problem. Americans are paying an average of $50,000 for EVs. The average price of a gas-powered car is about $10,000 lower. And EVs have lost the $7,500 tax credit.
The other buyer barriers have not gone away. These include range and the number of charging stations.
Elon Musk may solve one of these problems with a new Tesla Roadster. However, its launch has been on the way for at least two years. He continues to delay it. Now, he says there will be a prototype. They, by themselves, could renew a national interest in EVs if the product is anything like what Musk has hinted.
Very Expensive Model
The problem the Roadster solves is the issue with the new model. Price, however, will not be addressed at all. According to CNBC, “The Roadster is a high end, low-volume model, something meant to challenge vehicles like BYD’s YangWang U9 Xtreme, which was recently crowned the world’s fastest production car.”
In one way, the new car works against Musk’s interests. He continues to say Tesla is not a car company. It is, rather, he says, a robotics and AI company. So, why launch a new, very expensive car?
