It is 115 degrees F in Augrabiesvalle, South Africa. South Africa and Botswana to the north are covered by a heat dome with temperatures well above 100 degrees across the region.

From December through February, the temperature in and around Augrabiesvalle is often above 100 degrees F. The area gets almost no water, except for a small amount in February and March. 

Entire Area Has 100 Degree Heat

There are currently heat warnings for nearby Pretoria and the surrounding region. The Tshwane Emergency Services Department has warned residents that it is too hot to be outside for extended periods. “It is against this background that we call on residents to be aware of adverse effects that may be caused by extended exposure to extreme heat weather conditions. The effects may include dehydration, heat exhaustion and, in severe circumstances, heat stroke.”

Augrabiesvalle is adjacent to a waterfall on the Orange River, which is the largest river in South Africa. It is in the northeast part of South Africa, near the Namibia border. The area is part of a South African national park.
