In the Future, Much of Miami Will Be Underwater, According To FEMA data
Douglas McIntyre, Editor-in-Chief at Climate Crisis 24/7, warns that much of Miami may be permanently underwater in the coming decades. Using FEMA floodplain data, he highlights how Miami’s low elevation, coastal exposure, and hurricane frequency make it a prime example of what many U.S. coastal cities face. With sea levels projected to rise by two feet over the next 60 years, large portions of the South Atlantic and Gulf Coast are also at high risk of inland flooding.
