550 Die In Mecca, Count Will Grow
In an example of how even wealthy nations cannot deal with climate change, hundreds have died on their pilgrimage to the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca. Local diplomats told Agence France Presse (AFP) that the figure was 550. Such numbers are often understated because of confusion among large crowds and an inability to collect accurate statistics. Temperatures in the city reach 125 degrees F, considered above the level humans can survive for long.
A Global Warming Solution? –The Use Of Mirrors
Climatecrisis247 believes Saudi Arabia is among the world’s wealthiest nations and has a powerful local government. Even though these should be considered advantages to keeping people safe, they have proved useless.
The deaths are reflective of a growing trend. It is estimated that 11,000 Americans died from heat last year. Of those, 660 were around the Phoenix area, where temperatures topped 110 degrees F for 54 days.
Counts Are Wrong
For example, the count may be worse in India, where some areas have been over 110 degrees F for days. It is impossible to account for those who died from heat because of the vast Indian population, and its inability to account for the reasons for many deaths,
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 489,000 people died from heat-related causes each year between 2000 and 2019. Given the pace at which the Earth is warming, those numbers are very old.
