Florida To Expect Major Drop In Temperatures
New NOAA forecasts show extreme cold (compared to normal) and possible winter storms will hit Florida over the next month. The cold could do economic damage, potentially to forage crops already battered by hurricanes.
*What About Winter
*Winter Is Getting Hot In Some Areas
“Below freezing temperatures are possible as far south as the Gulf Coast and much of the Florida Peninsula,” the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center warns. “Impacts to highly sensitive citrus crops are possible. These could drop below 25 degrees F, compared to normal temperatures in the 60s.
Axios adds, “The most extreme scenarios may pose risks of power outages in some states, but there is still considerable uncertainty about the magnitude of the cold and hardest hit areas.”
Florida Two Weather Hit
So, Florida faces two problems. One is the orange crop, which had dropped to the lowest level since 1930. The other is the issue of whether there is a breakdown in energy infrastructure.
Florida may be hit twice by an entirely different weather pattern.
