Phoenix Posts 13 Days Over 110 Degrees

100-degree F days are rare anywhere in the U.S. In Phoenix, a 110-degree day is special. The Phoenix string refers to 13 consecutive days of 110-degree heat last year.

The 110-degree days come with special aspects. One is that air conditioning use is essential. Phoenix official say their grid is “highly reliable :\” but what happens if 110-degree days stretch for a month or more?

The Homeless

Another challenge is that some industries are shuttered. Working in the outside construction business is one of these. Retail stores on open sidewalks are another. Anything outside air-conditioned zones faces a financial risk.

Perhaps the hardest problem to solve is what to do with the homeless, and those who cannot afford air conditioning. The city must provide central facilities to accommodate these people. Otherwise, in some cases, they could die.

How many 100-degree days will Phoenix have? Based on the start of summer, it could be more than last year.
