Gas Powered Car Ranges Hit 500 Miles
One of the concerns about EVs is that they have ranges which average 250 miles. For many gas-powered cars, the number can be closer to 500 miles. For some cars with small engines and low curb weight, the number can be even longer.
One of the objections to EVs is their ranges. Particularly for people who want to drive great distances or have very long commutes, EVs may not be an option. This is particularly true for people without home chargers.
Gas Station Number
There are about 125,000 gas stations in the US. Almost all of them are near buildings with people, sharply cutting down the chance of vandalism. Many charging stations are not places they can be observed during operating hours. Vandalism is more than a minor problem. Since EVs cannot be charged quickly, the amount of time a driver has to wait while others charge is also an issue.
Battery Range
Battery range may be the greatest hurdle to Ev adoption. If so, this will not change until there is a new generation of batteries that take cars further on a single charge.
