Arctic Temperatures Hit 86 Degrees
In Norway, temperatures within the Arctic Circle reached 86 degrees F. Finland posted a similar figure. Global warming has been blamed. So has Arctic “amplification” which causes areas near the poles to increase at a more rapid rate, on a percentage basis, than the rest of the world. Norway has its own “heat dome.”
The temperatures cause environmental danger in two ways. One is that, as the Arctic ice melts, it causes a rise in ocean temperatures. It also melts sea ice.
Florida Floods
The extremely high temperatures in Norway are an example of how climate events can affect areas thousands of miles away. Economically, the temperatures hurt tourism. In coastal cities are far south as Miami, the sea level increase causes flooding during storms and the sea level will eventually overwhelm part of the Florida city.
What happens in Norway is felt in the southern US.
