Grand Canyon Fire Reaches Size of New Orleans
The Dragon Bravo Fire in the Grand Canyon has eaten 134,000 acres and is only 36% contained. That is larger than the city of New Orleans, and there is a chance the fire could grow to as large as 150,000 acres
A fire of this size is extremely rare, and it is good luck that it is so far from any city.
Still Extreme Heat
Additionally, it will be over 100 degrees F in areas nearby. The damage outside the area when it comes to population of any size is the smoke that has blown as far as the Midwest. This smoke and smoke from Canada has sent people to emergency rooms–partcuarlly people with preexisting conditions.
This fire, in general, is an example of how a large fire in one place can affect health and economies within a 1,000 mile radius.
