With more than half of the state under hurricane watch, flood warning, or storm surge warning, Florida officials are urging residents to evacuate. “You’re going to die,” Tampa mayor Jane Castor warned residents choosing to ignore evacuation orders in one dire CNN soundbite. As of Tuesday morning, there are nine counties in Florida under mandatory evacuation orders.
Hurricane Milton is the 13th named storm in what is quickly becoming one of the busiest Atlantic hurricane seasons in recent history.
