EVs Don’t Break Down Often, Gas-Powered Cars Do

In a period of slow EV sales, several factors give them an edge over fossil fuel-powered vehicles. One is that they rarely break down.
The German Automobile Club did a study about the odds of car breakdown. InsideEV published the findings. Low-voltage batteries led both categories as the most common problem.
Some models performed better than others based on breakdowns. “The Tesla Model Y, the biggest rival of the Ioniq 5, had a breakdown rate of just 0.9 for cars built in 2022. “
Test Of Two Types Of Cars
The EV industry rarely utilizes the breakdown rate as a competitive advantage. That is odd because, other than lower emissions and fuel cost, the sector has several criticisms to offset.
Among the most compelling arguments against EVs is their limited range, which is often less than 250 miles. The number of charging stations is also low. EVs go through tires more quickly than gas-powered cars do. They take less than a full charge in very low temperatures.
Breakdowns have at least two negative byproducts. One is the expense of repair. The other is the time spent by the driver while the car is fixed.
