According to a survey that has been conducted for decades, Tesla’s reputation collapsed based on the latest version of the study.

In the 2025 Axios Harris Poll 100 Reputation Rankings, Tesla fell 32 positions to No.95. The only companies or brands with worse reputations were The Trump Organization, Wells Fargo, Facebook, X, and Spirit Airlines.

The ranking was based on small surveys to determine company names, and then a poll of 16,585 Americans from a nationally representative sample ran from March 6 to 22.

Axios editors concluded, “Elon Musk’s polarizing political activism appears to have come at the expense of his largest companies, as Republicans expressed more favorable opinions than did Democrats.”

SpaceX Rating

Musk’s SpaceX remained at No. 86, the same spot it held last year, which put it slightly ahead of Boeing and J.C. Penney.

Going more deeply into the Tesla rating, Axios editors wrote, ‘It placed dead last in “character,” while placing near the bottom in areas like “ethics” and “citizenship.”’

Tesla’s sales have fallen sharply in the US. In the first quarter of the year, its EV market share in the US dropped below 50% for the first time.

Trader Joe’s was the top company in the poll, followed by Patagonia, Microsoft, Toyota, and Costco.
