Montana Hit By A Foot Of Snow

After a year of wildfires and record heat, snow has arrived early in Montana. The NWS warned of as much as a foot of snow in the Absaroka/Beartooth Mountains and Crazy Mountains. The snow is expected at 8,000 feet, but that still does not explain how early it has come
Snow is likely to be 8 to 16 inches. The NWS reports “between 8 and 16 inches possible. Locally higher amounts possible.”
The warning came with specifics.”Recreation in the high country could be impacted by heavy, accumulating snow. Travel could be very difficult along the Beartooth Highway.”
Hot And Then Very Cold
Part of the reason the snow is unusually early is the temperatures, which are expected to be well below freezing.
This year has been one of extreme weather. From wildfires in Europe to 120 degrees F days in many places. Las Vegas and Phoenix experience many days with temperatures above 110 degrees F.
This winter, across the US, will tell whether the engine year is another signal of global warming.
