China’s Miracle Car Engine
China has been considered the leader in EV technology for at least a year. It has also been the low-price provider, selling some cars in the world’s most populated nation for just above $10,000. By contrast, the average price of an American car–gas, hybrid, and EV-powered–has reached $42,000. The price increase in America has driven the average number of years cars have been on the road to over 12.
EV Challenge –$5 Gas
China’s EV giant BYD has launched a hybrid-engine car that can travel over 1,200 miles without refueling. Today’s hybrids cannot travel nearly as far on the same basis. The range of many EVs is less than 300 miles without recharging. One model of the BYD vehicle will be priced under $13,000. This car poses a real challenge to all EV and hybrid companies worldwide.
The Prius
Hybrid cars are not new. Toyota launched the Prius over a decade ago. It has been among the best-selling vehicles since then. However, it has a range of a few hundred miles.
Climatecrisis247 believes the range of alternative fuel cars has been a primary drawback for many consumers. In the US, it is one reason the government has added 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs. Not only are they priced below EVs American companies can make, but they are also likely to be years ahead on innovations.
