Drought has affected many places overseas, the most obvious of which is Africa, especially in the Eastern Horn, where 20 million people rarely have enough water to grow crops. There has been little rain for the last five years.

Recently, it has become evident that there could be global shortages of some foods. The one in the press most often is cocoa, almost two-thirds of which comes from Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. Drought has decimated the crops, and chocolate prices have hit record highs. Some places In Mexico have been hit particularly hard.

According to Forbes, the temperature has undermined olive oil production in the Mediterranean. Rice crops have been ruined in Italy, and soybean crops have been damaged in America. This news is the tip of the iceberg. Fossil fuel consumption continues to rise.

NASA’s Global Climate Change division recently reported, “Climate change may affect the production of maize (corn) and wheat as early as 2030 under a high greenhouse gas emissions scenario, according to a new NASA study published in the journal, Nature Food. Maize crop yields are projected to decline 24%, whole wheat could potentially see growth of about 17%.”

There is insufficient money to fix these problems because they are vast and severe. Poor nations that produce agricultural products have no access to capital at all. Climate change has reached a tipping point where financial solutions are no longer an option.
