Gulf Faces Huge Floods–Accuweather
A large tropic storm has entered the Gulf and could trigger significant and dangerous floods.
The details of this come from Accuweather.
AccuWeather Meteorologist Isaac Longley. “With the rainstorm emerging off the coast of the Mexican state of Tabasco and entering the very warm waters of the Bay of Campeche, we expect this rainstorm to gain organization and wind intensity as we head through the rest of the weekend into the beginning of next week.”
Storms Not Coming
This was expected to be a season of massive hurricanes that would occur with greater frequency than in the past. This was mostly due to a warming of the area in the North Atlantic. As it turns out, that part of the Atlantic has cooled. No one knows for certain why.
The hurricane season does not end until November. However, with no huge storms on the horizon, it is unlikely that there will be more than a few. And, it may be that we end up without any Category 3, Category 4, or Category 5 storms
AI Forecasting
The misplaced forecast is an example of how complex tracing climate change has become. Most of the work is currently done by physics. That may change with the advent of AI.
Maybe next year.
