Heat And Wildfire Weather Will Intensify This Summer
Perhaps there was some hope that, as the summer progressed, the heat and drought that plagued much of the country would disappear, and cooler and wetter weather patterns would replace them. That will not happen. The costs of this will run into the billions of dollars.
Climate News –New Jersey Least Prepared State For Climate Change
According to Accuweather, heat and dry weather will be the norm for most of the nation for weeks or longer. Specifically, heat about 3 degrees above normal will continue into October and November in the Northeast, Midwest, and Rockies. The warmth will drop the odds of snow in the Rockies during the fall.
Additionally, heat will cause wildfires to destroy six to eight million acres of land in 2024, and warm oceans will extend the Atlantic storm season beyond its standard endpoint. A fire in California has destroyed land equal to Delaware.
Autumn Will Seem Like Summer
AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok commented, “Fall is going to feel more like an extended summer for millions of Americans this year.” He added, “One of the greatest impacts climate change is having on fall weather in the United States is with evening and overnight temperatures, which continue to rise across a large portion of the country.”
None of this should come as a surprise.
