Tornado Warnings In San Francisco
Tornado warnings are part of life in the Midwest and Texas, particularly in May through early July. More recently, Hurricane Milton caused dozens of tornados in South Florida. These warnings are rare to happen in the northeast of along the Pacific Coast. However, yesterday, there was one near San Francisco.
According to The New York Times, “Powerful storms swept through parts of Northern California on Saturday, knocking down trees, causing widespread power outages and prompting weather officials to issue what they said was the first-ever tornado warning for San Francisco.” Just two weeks ago there was an equally rare tsunami warning from an earthquake in the region.
The heavy windstorms in the area were also unusual for this time of year. It shows the extent to which warm parts of the atmosphere react to cold ones. The wind knocked out power to 200,000 homes.
San Francisco Insurance
San Francisco will face the byproducts of these storms, even if they are only occasional. In the middle part of the country, unexpected hail storms raised home insurance, and electricity was shut off to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses.
Hurricanes in San Francisco will do more than damage when they hit. It will become more expensive to live in the area.
